Municipal

The City Charter is the constitution of the City of San Luis Obispo and the starting point for all its municipal regulations.

The City maintains an online version of its Municipal Code for easy reference.

San Luis Obispo is a member of the League of California Cities, an advocacy group working to influence policy decisions that affect cities.

The District Attorney's Office is charged with the investigation, evaluation and prosecution of state law violations within the county. They also handle Victim/Witness Services, Economic Crime, and other law enforcement duties in our area.

Within the un-incorporated areas of San Luis Obispo County, County Counsel's Office is in charge of enforcement of the county code.

The San Luis Obispo Superior Court is the local venue for civil and criminal cases.

State

The Fair Political Practices Commission provides valuable information concerning election and conflict of interest regulations.

The California Attorney General is the chief law enforcement officer of the state. 

The California Natural Resources Agency provides a comprehensive guide to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), including statutes, guidelines, case law, general reference and supplemental materials.

The California Code of Regulations dictate the governance of state administrative agencies.

California's laws are published in the California Code, which contains everything from the State's Constitution to laws regarding water, public utilities and elections.

Findlaw is a good source of general legal information where you can search by topic or location.

The City complies with all regulations under title I of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
