The City Attorneys Office
consists of the City Attorney, who is appointed directly by the City Council, one
Assistant City Attorney, and one Legal Assistant. The primary activities of the
office are to:
- Provide legal advice to the City
Council, various commissions and committees, department heads, and City staff throughout
the organization;
- Represent the City at City Council and
Planning Commission meetings;
- Defend the City against claims and
litigation, initiate civil lawsuits on behalf of the City; and
- Enforce and prosecute violations of the
Municipal Code, including both criminal prosecutions and civil abatements.
- Administer the Legislative Action
Program and the Legal Advocacy Program.
